Ranxapin 10 mg 21 tablets, contains the active ingredient olanzapine. Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat certain mental health conditions.

• Uses: It is primarily prescribed for:
  • Schizophrenia: A mental illness that affects a person’s thinking, feelings, and behavior.
  • Bipolar I Disorder: Used for treating manic or mixed episodes and for maintenance treatment. It can be used alone or in combination with other medicines like lithium or valproate.
  • Treatment-Resistant Depression: Used in combination with fluoxetine (an antidepressant) when other antidepressants have not been effective. 

• Elderly Patients with Dementia: Olanzapine is not approved for treating behavior problems in older adults with dementia due to an increased risk of death and stroke.
• Side Effects: Common side effects can include drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, increased appetite, weight gain, and constipation.
• Serious Side Effects: Rare but serious side effects can occur, such as high blood sugar (diabetes), high fat levels in the blood, and unusual body movements.
