Eucarbon tablets contain a blend of herbal and mineral ingredients:
- Vegetable Carbon (Activated Charcoal): Adsorbs gases and toxins in the gastrointestinal tract, allowing for their rapid elimination and providing an anti-flatulent effect.
- Senna and Rhubarb Root extracts: These are stimulant laxatives that encourage the natural muscular movement (peristalsis) of the bowel, easing bowel movements.
- Purified Sulfur: Helps disinfect the digestive tract.
- Peppermint and Fennel oils: Provide carminative (gas-relieving) properties and flavor.
Usage and Dosage
- Indications: Short-term relief of occasional constipation, bowel sluggishness, flatulence, and general digestive discomfort.
- Dosage: For adults and children over 12, the usual dose is 1-2 tablets up to 3 times a day, with or after meals. For a stronger laxative effect, the evening dose may be increased to 3-4 tablets.
- Administration: Tablets should be taken with an ample amount of liquid (at least one glass of water).
- Onset of Effect: The laxative effect typically occurs approximately 8-12 hours after taking the product.
- Duration of Use: Prolonged continuous use is not recommended. If symptoms worsen or persist after 3 days, consult a doctor.
Important Considerations
- Contraindications: Do not use if you have a blockage or narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), appendicitis, severe dehydration, or persistent, undiagnosed abdominal pain.
- Drug Interactions: Activated carbon can reduce the absorption and effectiveness of other medicines, including oral contraceptives. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications, especially those for heart conditions, diuretics, or corticosteroids.
- Side Effects: Possible side effects include abdominal pain, spasms, and diarrhea. Chronic use may lead to fluid and electrolyte imbalance. The urine may also turn a harmless yellow or red-brown color during treatment.
