Avara (Leflunomide) is a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) used to treat adults with active rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis. It works by reducing joint inflammation and slowing the progression of joint damage.

- Method: Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.
- Timing: Can be taken with or without food.
- Missed Dose: Take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose.
While effective, Avara may cause side effects in some patients. Common side effects include:
- Diarrhea, nausea, or stomach pain
- Temporary hair thinning (alopecia)
- Skin rash or itching
- Headache or dizziness

Strict Medical Supervision Required:
- Pregnancy Warning: Avara must NOT be taken during pregnancy. It can cause severe birth defects. Effective contraception is required for both men and women.
- Liver Health: Regular blood tests are mandatory to monitor liver function while on this medication.
- Alcohol: It is highly recommended to avoid alcohol consumption to reduce the risk of liver damage.
- Store in a dry place at room temperature (below 25°C / 77°F).
