Treatment of Hypertension

For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on Losartan or Hydrochlorothiazide monotherapy. Particularly effective for volume-overload hypertension.

Reduction of Stroke Risk

Losartan component has demonstrated protective effects against stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy.

Common Side Effects

• Dizziness and lightheadedness
• Fatigue and weakness
• Electrolyte imbalances (low potassium)
• Increased urination (especially initial)
• Dry mouth and thirst

Contraindications

• Anuria or severe renal impairment
• Pregnancy (2nd & 3rd trimesters)
• Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides
• Severe hepatic impairment

💧 Hydration is Crucial

Hot climate + diuretic = increased dehydration risk. Drink plenty of bottled water, especially during daytime activities.

🏝️ Sun Protection Essential

Hydrochlorothiazide increases sun sensitivity. Use high-SPF sunscreen, wear hats, and avoid peak sun hours (11 AM – 3 PM).

🍽️ Dietary Considerations

Request low-salt meals. Include potassium-rich foods (bananas, dates) to counter diuretic effects. Limit alcohol intake.
