Dosage:

The dosage of Lovir will vary depending on your condition and how well you respond to the medication.For most HSV infections, the usual dosage is 400 mg taken three times daily for 7 days.For shingles, the usual dosage is 800 mg taken five times daily for 7 to 10 days.Mechanism of action: Acyclovir works by interfering with the replication of the herpes virus.This prevents the virus from spreading and causing new lesions.

Lovir is a prescription medication.Do not take Lovir if you are allergic to acyclovir or any of the other ingredients in the medication.

Tell your doctor about all of the medications you are taking before starting Lovir, as some medications may interact with Lovir.

Lovir may cause side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness.

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking Lovir and contact your doctor immediately.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before taking Lovir.
